DAY 5: Proverbs 7: Immorality is expensive part 2
This passage of Scripture is very descriptive of the lure of immorality. There are many seductive enticements all around us. They are quick to tell you of the instant gratification but not the cost for the moment of “fun.” As this proverb says, these things lead straight to death. So what will you do to watch over or guard your heart, life and mind from the lures of immorality? (See Proverbs 4:23.)

Day 4: Proverbs 6: Get up, you lazy one
Have we ever thought of ourselves as lazy? Maybe there are just a few areas of our lives that we may approach with a lazy attitude. For example, getting physically fit to help you have a healthy temple. (See 1 Corinthians 6:19.) Or maybe our study of God’s Word and spending time in prayer is not quite what it needs to be. (See Ezra 7:10.) Let us get up and strive to actively shake off the laziness that keeps us from the abundant life God intended us to have. (See John 10:10.)

DAY 6: Numbers 21:4-9: Afraid of Snakes?
The children of Israel complained once again, and in response, God sent a plague of snakes. When they confessed their sin, God instructed Moses to make a bronze snake. When a person was bitten, they could look upon this bronze image and live.

In John 3:14-15, Jesus uses the bronze snake event to describe the Cross. We must look to Jesus for salvation from our sin and lostness. There is no other way.

DAY 5: Numbers 20:1-13: Moses Strikes Out
At an earlier time, God had instructed Moses to strike a rock in order to produce water for the people (Exodus 17). In this instance, Moses was commanded to speak to the rock. Instead he used Aaron’s rod to strike it. Water came forth, but the disobedience of Moses resulted in God keeping him from entering the Promised Land.

Why was Moses’ action judged so harshly? He showed a lack of trust in God’s command. He felt he must do more in order for things to work. His actions showed a lack of reverence for God’s presence. Taking God’s Word seriously is a lesson for all of us.

After Aaron and Miriam led a rebellion against Moses, a man named Korah, along with two others, Dathan and Abiran, accused Moses of bad leadership. The issue here was power. Who would be in charge? As with Aaron and Miriam, they were jealous of Moses. These three men lost everything as a result.

Someone said, “Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.” That someone was right.

Not worrying and being consumed about material things, even “needed” material things, is difficult. It is not wrong to desire clothes and a home. However, not worrying about them and placing them in their appropriate order is where we often fail. Ask God to give you peace and a righteous spirit regarding your needs and desires.
